Mercer Park Pre-School aims to provide the best care and education to your child and the team of staff are not only highly skilled, qualified and committed but, most importantly, love being with children.

We believe that children learn when they are in a happy environment and we provide a variety of equipment and activities especially selected to enhance their learning experience.

We want you to have peace of mind when you leave your children with us, knowing that they will be loved and cared for in a friendly, safe and cheerful environment.

Every day we devote time to develop the children’s language, number, reading and writing skills. The children are divided into very small groups to help the learning process.  Each group is assigned a key worker who has been selected for their expertise, caring disposition and enthusiasm for working with young children, as well as their excellent communication skills.

To provide the best care and education to your child, we continuously learn and develop our skills, by sharing knowledge and experience at staff meetings held every 6 weeks, and attending external seminars or training courses.

 Staff at Mercer Park

Staff at Mercer Park are not only highly skilled, highly qualified and committed but, most importantly, love being with children. Most are parents themselves, giving them an added insight into the needs of the children and the activities most suited to them.

The ratio of staff to children exceeds Government standards, as do the levels of staff qualifications.

At Mercer Park we believe that we can best meet the needs of the individual children by working closely with parents. All of us aim to develop partnerships with parents which are based on mutual trust and respect and we promote the sharing of information and knowledge for the benefit of the children in our care.

Communication is an important element in our nursery and we ensure that we give regular updates to parents about their child’s learning and development.

We assure parents that they can contact us at any time throughout the day and that the staff are available to discuss their child at the start and end of their children’s session.

We keep parents informed about any changes in the law and policies through our news letter, displaying information on the Parents’ notice board.

Daily activities and events are discussed informally with parents when they drop their child at the nursery.  We also have a Homelink programme which provides ideas and handy tips to support parents to reinforce their children’s learning at home.

Two parents evenings are held each year, and annually we present parents with their children’s record of achievement and progress made throughout the years.  We also ensure that the children’s record of achievement is available for their parents to see it anytime on request.

Parents are kept informed about themes/topics through posters displayed on notice boards. These show weekly, monthly, yearly information as well as menus, policies etc.

All of us at Mercer Park aim to work in partnership with parents to meet the needs of the children, both individually and as a group.
"We get a lot of support from everyone.  We formed a group and held a concert for the parents and everyone who comes to the after school club.  We practiced at the after school club and it was a lot of fun. We can trust staff and feel safe with them" Jasmin
